FitnessThis Was the Top Workout of 2023, According to Data

As we settle in to the new year, resolutions are at the top of many of our minds. For a lot of us, kickstarting our fitness and health routines is a priority as we start a new year, but choosing which exercise routine best suits our needs is no easy feat. If you’re in the market for a new fitness regimen, new data just revealed that this was the top workout of 2023, making it one you should check out as we ring in 2024.

According to data collected by ClassPass and Mindbody, for the first time ever, Pilates gained the top spot for most popular workout of 2023. Throughout the year, bookings for Pilates classes across multiple clubs and platforms utilizing ClassPass and Mindbody booking systems were up a whopping 92 percent, proving that low-impact workouts are in record-high demand. In fact, low-impact workouts in general made the list of top 10 workouts this year for the first time ever as well, with an 176 percent increase in popularity since 2022.

ClassPass and Mindbody’s data also revealed that the two most popular months to workout were September and October, with October 2023 seeing a record high for number of class reservations. Surprisingly enough, on the other end of the workout realm, sports and recreation class bookings were also up 92 percent throughout the year, with golf being the fastest-growing workout class being booked on ClassPass. I guess it’s safe to say that 2024 might be the year for saying “fore” and hitting the reformer.
